hello,

wow. it has been quite a while, and my life has been flying full speed ahead. hmm, i don't even know where to start, it has been
two months since i updated my journal last. well i first i want to start with, thank you everyone for all the comments and favorites
even when i wasn't uploading new work, it really does mean a lot to me!

so basically there are a few things i need to cover, and then if you want to read the story you can, or if you find my life boring,
which is totally fine xD,
you can ignore it! haha.

firstly. if you wanted prints from me and contacted me here, it has probably been lost in my build up of an inbox. so overwhelming.
so please, if you asked for any prints/handwritten pieces, please now email me at dereklmurdock@yahoo.com

this email is solely for contact about purchasing things, or if you have any serious questions about my work, or want commissioned work.
please only email me on that account for business type questions or comments.

if you simply want to talk, shoot me an email at murdock_derek@yahoo.com, or you can post something on my formspring: www.formspring.me/justsomeboy

also, i want to start using flickr more, and may actually be uploading more random photos from shoots there, than here.
no worries, i will still update this site, but flickr is better for uploading more faster. so please follow my new flickr account at:
www.flickr.com/photos/dereklmu…

also, lastly, since everyone and their mother these days has a facebook account, haha, and so do i. would any of you be interested
in me starting a derek murdock photography/writing fan page in the future, that way i can give you quick updates, and if you
have any questions you just want briefly answered, you can post them there? i would appreciate opinions on this topic, thank you!

STORY STARTS HERE:

well, in the last few months i have,

been keeping up with six ap classes,
traveled to baltimore, new york city, savannah and chicago to visit schools,
started being paid for commissioned work,
had many swim meets and ice cold morning practices,
and really been living life.

i guess to start out with, my october was quite busy, i attended national portfolio day at the beginning of october.
it was quite successful and i am glad i went, saic accepted my portfolio right then and there. and the other
schools i talked to had very nice things to say, and good constructive criticism, which i am so glad they gave.
for the rest of october i was just busy with school and working on college applications and such. my parsons
application was due the first of november, and my saic application is due on wednesday.

so november rolled around, and the first weekend of november, i missed thursday and friday of school,
and flew to baltimore to visit mica. i really, really loved the school and it was a wonderful trip in baltimore
over all! many exciting things happened, tom hilfiger. yes the actual tommy hilfiger, was on my tour with his
daughter! she is my age. i didn't realize until half way through that i was sitting right next to him. then later
that day i got to meet bailey, known as bailey--elizabeth. it was so, so, so exciting! we have been online
friends for years and we were SO excited to finally meet in real life! it was AMAZING. we get along perfectly
and it wasn't awkward at all! we only had time to get lunch and hang out and walk around in the afternoon,
and it was very cold and windy so we didn't actually have a photoshoot, but we did take a quick snapshot
together to document our wonderful day!

(OMG,WESMILE?!haha,justkidding,i'msuresomeofyouareshockedthatbaileyandiSMILEDinaphoto,'causeyaknow,

we hope to hang out again in the near future! and have a real photoshoot haha, we constantly wished we lived
closer to each other so we would each always have a model to weird artsy things that our friends might be like,
uh...what the fuck...about, haha.

i had flown to baltimore on that thursday, visited mica on friday, and then flew to savannah that night! saturday
was scad day in savannah, so there were MANY kids there from all over the country and even the world! it was really
cool and i loved touring all the different buildings and seeing savannah. it isn't he most happening town such as nyc,
but it definitely has its beauty and charm, and so many beautiful parks and old houses! i tried to meet up with my fellow
texan, rockie nolan aka nerdynotdirty, while there, but she was busy working on a project that day and
so we never got to see each other.
haha, maybe next time. :]

so then i am back at school for three days, and i leave again, this time from the eleventh through the fifteenth. i was going
to visit nyc and chicago, to see parsons and saic! i left texas on thursday, and got nyc that night. on friday i toured parsons,
which i loved, it is in a very nice part of manhattan and went to central park and shopping that evening/night! on saturday
anna szczekutowicz, annarexic, and i had communicated about meeting up, but her mother had suddenly made plans and
told her at last moment, so we weren't able to haha. it's okay though, parents are like that, but you still gotta love them.
hopefully i get to see rockie and anna in the near future! so on saturday, i walked all around greenwich village and soho shopping,
and then that night i went to rain, which is a broadway musical tribute to the beatles! it was amazing! it is basically like a beatles concert,
and everyone is standing up dancing and singing! the age range there was from about six to probably seventy six haha, it was awesome.
on sunday morning i flew to chicago, spending the day there, and then on monday i visited saic, which was nice, but it isn't my top
school. it is a nice school! don't get me wrong, just not my fit personally. so monday night i then flew home.
i then had four days of school, then the weekend, then two days of school, then thanksgiving break!

thanksgiving break was amazing, so relaxing and i spent the entire time with my friends. it was MUCH needed, lets just
put it that way haha. due to having six ap classes and missing that much school. dear god, i have a minor case of insomnia,
but the past few weeks have been extra bad, averaging about three or less hours of sleep a night. : thank you thanksgiving
for allowing me to catch up on much needed sleep! so now we are up to the present. it is monday and i actually now have some time/motivation/inspiration to create new photos! i will slowly be uploading things i have been creating over the last few months,
but never uploaded, and uploading new things!

if any of you read through all of this! then i applaud you, and thank you so much!
